What does "app without core data" mean?
By default, every app in the Allthings platform uses so-called core data.
This includes information on:
- Properties
- Buildings
- Units
- Rental periods
Thanks to this structure, content – such as posts, surveys, or documents – can be specifically displayed to people with a connection to certain units or addresses.
If the app is operated without core data, no assignment is possible.
All content is then automatically visible to all people who have been invited to the app – regardless of their address or usage unit.
Where can I find the setting?
The selection is made in the Cockpit under:
Administration Platform settings [Select app] General settings
In the lower Core data section, you can use a selection field to specify whether the app should:
- "Use core data (standard)", or
- "Turn off core data".
Please note that to access this setting, you need the "App Admin" permission.
What's the difference?
| Function | With core data | Without core data |
|---|---|---|
| Display content selectively | ✔ Possible | ✖ Not possible |
| Use of rental periods | ✔ Possible | ✖ Not available |
| Management by addresses | ✔ Supported | ✖ Not supported |
| Differentiated permissions | ✔ Possible | ✖ Content applies to all |
When is an app without core data useful?
An app without core data is particularly suitable when:
- no units or buildings need to be maintained,
- information should always be visible to all people,
- the app is used for general communication or events,
- the setup effort should be kept low.
