Introduction
ABB-free@home is an intelligent system for controlling lights, heating, blinds and other functions in the home. The feature in the Allthings app links to the page of the free@home app, where residents install the app and then operate their smart home system in it.
How it works
The integration is done via a link feature. It does not provide its own controls within the Allthings app, but links to the page of the free@home app (Busch-Jaeger/ABB).
In the free@home app, residents can use the following features, among others:
- Control lights (on/off, dim)
- Operate blinds and shutters
- Adjust room temperature
- Activate predefined scenes
Control is easy via the ABB app or the ABB web interface, both available on any device.

Access and usage
The ABB-free@home control is available as a feature in your Allthings app. When you open the feature, you are redirected to the page of the free@home app. You need login credentials for the ABB system of your apartment or property.
- Log in to the Allthings app.
- Select the ABB Free@Home feature (your property management may have renamed it).
- Install the app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store.
- Conveniently make adjustments to your home.
Frequently asked questions
I get redirected when I open the feature – is that safe?
→ Yes. The feature opens the official page of the free@home app by Busch-Jaeger/ABB. You then control your home in the free@home app with your personal login credentials.
I did not receive login credentials – what should I do?
→ Please contact your property management or the installing electrical company.
Information for property management
Setup and activation
- The partner solution is integrated as a link feature. Allthings takes care of the setup.
- The ABB-free@home system must be installed and configured in the building.
- The name, color, icon and display order of the feature can be customized.
- Visibility can be controlled via tags or specific channel assignment.
Management and administration
- No deep technical integration is required.
- Management in the Cockpit is limited to the visibility and appearance of the feature.
- For questions about access rights in the ABB system, it may be necessary to coordinate with the ABB system partner.
Introduction to residents
- Communicate the new feature via a pinboard post or a message including brief instructions.
- Important: Allthings does not manage the ABB system login credentials – residents receive them from the property management or the installing specialist company.
